Sheryl Giesbrecht is a survivor. A stage four cancer survivor, former alcoholic and drug addict, former single parent and widow, wife and mother, she is happily married to her second husband Jim Turner, after her first husband, Paul was killed in a tragic motorcycle accident. Sheryl and Jim’s ‘blended family’ boasts five dogs and two cats. Sheryl’s two adult children are Sarah, happily married to Matt, Ben happily married to Megan. (Her children’s marriages gave her the four children she always wanted.) Her radio career began in 1998 with “Kindred Moments with Sheryl Giesbrecht;”a short feature now nationally syndicated, heard on numerous networks across the USA. Besides spending time at the beach or in the mountains, Sheryl loves to run 5 K races with her 82 year old mother. Sheryl is on a hunt to find the world’s best dark chocolate, until she finds it, she loves to welcome guests to her home, to enjoy her delicious homemade meals and sumptuous baked goods as they share God’s goodness over a cup of French roast coffee.
Favorite Christian band/artist of all time: Newsboys – Band, Michael W. Smith, Soloist
Something I love that no one else does: Speaking to single women and widow’s groups, prisoners, drug addicts and homeless, anyone who is looking for their hope to be renewed. She loves to see people surrender their losses, bitterness, and mistakes to God; and trust Him. She says, “It’s exciting to see how God can turn our horrible and shameful hurts into something that gives Him glory.”
Favorite movie quote: “It’s like you escaped from a Hallmark card or something.” “Is that a bad thing?” -Enchanted
What food will be served in heaven: Pecan Pie a la mode, of course.
Favorite Bible verse: “Above all, love each other deeply, for love covers a multitude of sins.” I Peter 4:8
