Radio Veteran Joins “Life FM” Bakersfield’s Local Christian Music Station
Mid-Days Will Now Be Hosted by Jon Engen
Taking another big step forward, KAXL “Life FM” at 88.3 FM announces the addition of Jon Engen as their new mid-day host!
Jon has been a friend of “Life FM” for many years, and over the past year has served as the Christian Radio Industry Consultant to the station. Jon’s valuable insights and wisdom have helped to make “Life FM” into one of the fastest growing Christian Radio stations. Now KAXL “Life FM” has brought Jon into our daily line-up where he will be hosting mid-days from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. He is hosting mid-days live, and remotely from his home near Minneapolis, MN. Please remember that and smile when he gives the Bakersfield weather reports next winter.
With the success that station has seen from Engen’s guidance, the Life FM team is thrilled to welcome Jon to the daily line-up. “It’s exciting to have one of my radio heroes on board,” says Matt Pelishek, 88.3 Life FM Program Director. “When I was first pursuing a career in radio, Jon Engen was the guy I listened to that made me say, ‘I want to do a show like that.'”
Jon is the former General Manager and morning host of KTIS in St. Paul, MN and currently the morning host at BOB 106.1 FM in MN. In addition to hosting mid-days for 88.3 Life FM, Jon will be providing newscasts for the morning show with Dan Schaffer. Jon is best known as a recent inductee into the White Castle Hall of Fame, and is a recovering Minnesota Twins fan, although this year they look pretty good so far. [Life FM trivia: Twins Pitcher Casey Fien is our Director of Ministry Doug Cowan's nephew, so there are a few Twins fans around the station.]
“Being a part of the air staff of Life FM is a dream come true,” says Engen. “Christian radio will always be my first love of service for the Kingdom. Finding a home at KAXL is something that I count as an amazing privilege and honor.”
Pelishek added, “The way God has put the pieces together is humbling and exciting. His on-air presence brings a much needed boost to the mid-day.”
So Jon, welcome to Bakersfield! Welcome to Life FM! We are so glad to have you as a part of our ministry team!
